A blue heron sits absolutely still for a long exposure photograph. This image was captured on the Rehoboth Bay waters shortly after sunset that provided some warm light to the bay's water. With little light, a thirteen second exposure was used to flatten out the water's surface and amplify the heron's reflection. These birds are wonderful to photograph under any light, because they stand so perfectly still and are not very flighty around humans so long as you keep your distance.
This image was captured from the Bay Resort Waterfront Hotel in Dewey beach on a very warm and very humid August evening in 2021.
