Description
A north american cardinal takes in his environment between mouthfuls of peanuts. Framing the shot are brilliant dark red leaves from a Japanese Maple tree. Behind the cardinal, a Douglas fir provides a natural green background to round out this wildlife photo.
The very popular north american cardinal is the state bird for seven different states in the United States - Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio, Virginia and West Virginia.
Ironically, this photo was taken in Pennsylvania during a mild April afternoon.
