This mourning dove spent the entire afternoon in our backyard under a Japanese Maple tree. Possibly keeping a low profile from hawks in the area. These birds are prolific photography models. They allow the photographer to get very close and they'll bounce around in any number of poses, giving the picture taker plenty of angles. This bird even parked himself on a stone for it's picture.
This photo was taken in South Whitehall Township, Pennsylvania which is a suburb of Allentown. The photo was taken in early March. Dead leaves and mulch surround the rock.
