Artist's Description
Steam locomotive No. 40 awaits departure at the New Hope Railroad in New Hope, Pennsylvania. Built in 1925, this engine is nearly 100 years old at the time of this writing. The engine was built by Baldwin Locomotive Works and spent the majority of it's life as a backup on the Lancaster and Chester railway in South Carolina. Today, No. 40 runs excursions for the New Hope railroad and it is the railroad's only steam locomotive in operation.
This image was shot in October. The railway has some October and Halloween decorations out on the platform, while riders and visitors mill around the area and Old Glory waving in the foreground.

Great shot. The steam engine was built for my hometown railroad. I went up to New Hope just to see the #40 for my first and so far only time in 2006
