Description
Thick roots spread out from an old tree along the Elk Ridge Trail in Lehigh County's Trexler Nature Preserve, aka the Trexler Game Preserve to many. This was my first trip along the Elk Ridge Trail while visiting the preserve to photograph it's many beautiful natural scenes. For the most part, the trail was fairly clear (and steep!), with the exception of this stubborn tree that insisted you climb over its roots if you wish to continue on. I knew this would be a black and white photo from the very start. The shadows, patterns and textures practically begged for it. I liked how the roots, starting at the bottom of the photograph, take the viewer up and into the scene.
