Description

The Jordan Creek flows over the edge of a frozen Wehr's Dam on a very chilly January morning. It was about 8 degrees out and the frozen waters speak to the cold temps we've seen lately. Winter storm Kenan, had a brush with the Lehigh Valley, leaving a couple inches of snowfall behind. The newly fallen snow provided a beautiful white tapestry for our photograph of this area. I went with a black and white photograph for this scene to capture the absolute white in the snow, set against the dark waters and other natural elements in the photograph.

Wehr's Dam, is located in South Whitehall Township Pennsylvania - a large suburb of Allentown. The dam has recently fought off several attempts to have it removed. Built in 1904, it is over a century old and has technically outlived it's purpose of powering the Ephraim Seiger stone grist mill. Located in Covered Bridge Park, It's a popular tourist destination and a very popular fishing hole during warmer months.
